Before investing in AI, you need to know where you stand. The 5-Dimensions Model gives you an honest assessment — and shows where to invest first.

The 5-Dimensions Model

Dimension 1: Data

The foundation of every AI initiative:

Level 1	Data in silos, spreadsheets, no standards	1–2
Level 2	Central database but inconsistent quality	3–4
Level 3	Data warehouse, documented quality standards	5–6
Level 4	Data lake/lakehouse, automated pipelines	7–8
Level 5	Real-time data platform, self-service analytics	9–10

Dimension 2: Technology

Your technical infrastructure:

Cloud readiness (IaaS/PaaS available?)
API-capable systems (can systems communicate?)
Security architecture (IAM, encryption, logging)
DevOps maturity (CI/CD, monitoring, rollback capability)

Dimension 3: People

The most important — and most often missing — element:

AI literacy: Do decision makers understand what AI can and cannot do?
Technical skills: Are there data engineers, ML engineers in-house?
Learning culture: Is the company willing to invest in upskilling?
Champions: Are there internal advocates who motivate others?

Dimension 4: Processes

AI needs clear, documented processes:

Are core processes standardized and documented?
Are there governance structures for data and AI?
Do change management processes exist?
How are decisions made — data-driven or gut feeling?

Dimension 5: Culture

The underestimated factor:

Innovation readiness: Are new ideas encouraged or blocked?
Failure culture: Are experiments allowed to fail?
Transparency: Is data shared or hoarded?
Technology trust: Is there tech anxiety or openness?

Scoring and Interpretation

Total score = Average of all 5 dimensions (1–10)

1–3: Fundamental gaps — build basics first
4–6: Ready for first pilots — invest strategically
7–8: Good foundation — scale and optimize
9–10: AI leader — extend competitive advantage

Action: Rate each dimension with your leadership team. Be honest — a sugar-coated assessment helps nobody.
